Ateneum Fashion – Helene Schjerfbeck à la mode

On Independence Day, Fri 6 December 2019, from 14:00 to 16:30

Spend an afternoon enthralled by fashion! The young fashion designer Carolina Forss will present her collection, inspired by the golden age of Finnish art and especially by Helene Schjerfbeck, in the beautiful main stairwell of the Ateneum building. The designs created by Forss bring together art history and contemporary fashion design. The collection is part of Forss’ Master’s thesis for Aalto University.

After the fashion show, the Ateneum Hall will host an expert lecture on the relationship between Schjerfbeck and fashion, and a panel discussion on the links between fashion and art, and on inspiration. The language of the lecture and the panel discussion will be Finnish.

Admission is free to the fashion show in the main stairwell. Admission to the events in the Ateneum Hall is included in the museum entrance fee, or with a Museum Card or a Friends of the Ateneum membership card. Presented in cooperation with the Finnish Institute in London and the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland.
