Antti Pheasant, Duckburgian
Gladstone Gander, an Idler
National Gallery of Duckburg

Gladstone Gander has a provocative personality, and even the act of sitting for a portrait seemed too much like honest work for him. The conflict between the artist, Antti Pheasant, and his model manifests in insolent smirks and ambiguous gestures captured with delicate brushstrokes. It is a great pity that this painting has not been exhibited in public before, as it marks a newfound vitality and deftness of touch in an artist worn down by a gruelling schedule of commercial portraiture.
