Buying a ticket at the Ateneum

Tickets are also sold at the door, but people buying tickets at the museum should be prepared for queues. Ticket sales at the door end one hour before the museum’s closing time.

At the Ateneum, we accept cash (euros) and all major credit and debit cards. You can also pay the admission fee with the various Smartum, Edenred, ePassi and Eazybreak payment methods.

Pre-booking tickets

All pre-booked tickets to the exhibitions are sold through If you want to guarantee your admission to the museum at a preferred time, we recommend pre-booking your ticket. also accepts various yearly passes (including the Museum Card, press card, Friends of the Ateneum membership card, and teacher identity card) as means of payment. Tickets can also be pre-booked for people under 18 through The eligibility for a discounted or free ticket is checked at the entrance.

Depending on the chosen delivery method, a service fee of two euros and a booking fee of at least one euro are added to all prices, including for tickets purchased through, as well as tickets acquired with free-entry cards and tickets for under 18-year-olds. Only the ticket price of €19 or €17 will be charged for a ticket purchased at the museum.

In addition to being available on the online service, tickets can be purchased from the telephone service at +358 600 900 900 (Mon–Fri, 9:00–17:00, €2/minute + mobile call charge/local network charge) and at the Stockmann department store.

European Youth Card holders are eligible for the discounted admission of €17.

During each changing exhibition, there is one day of free admission. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, free admission days unfortunately have been cancelled until further notice.

Gift cards 

Buy a gift card to the Finnish National Gallery museums from Ticket Sales or the museum shop! The gift card is valid as a means of payment in museum shops and at service points at the Ateneum, Kiasma and Sinebrychoff art museums. 

The gift card is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. With the gift card, you can buy tickets, guided tours, workshops and museum shop products, for example. It cannot be used in museum restaurants or online shops.

The museum shop is online! Visit our web shop to explore the Finnish National Gallery’s selection and have your order shipped to your home. Entrance tickets to Ateneum’s events can also be purchased online.
