Come and enjoy the exhibitions at the Ateneum! If you want to guarantee your admission to the museum at a preferred time, we recommend pre-booking your ticket. Tickets will also be sold at the door, but people buying tickets at the museum should be prepared for queues. Changes are possible.

When purchasing tickets through, the price of a normal ticket is €19, and the price of a concession ticket is €17 (students, pensioners, unemployed, conscripts, and non-military conscripts). also accepts various yearly passes (including the Museum Card, press card, Friends of the Ateneum membership card, and teacher identity card) as means of payment. Tickets can also be pre-booked for people under 18 through The eligibility for a discounted or free ticket is checked at the entrance.

Depending on the chosen delivery method, a service fee of two euros and a booking fee of at least one euro are added to all prices, including for tickets purchased through, as well as tickets acquired with free-entry cards and tickets for under 18-year-olds. In addition to being available on the online service, tickets can be purchased from the telephone service at +358 600 900 900 (Mon–Fri, 9:00–17:00, €2/minute + mobile call charge/local network charge) and at the Stockmann department store.

Buying a ticket at the Ateneum

Tickets will also be sold on site at the Ateneum. People buying tickets at the museum should be prepared for queues. The time of entry depends on the number of visitors present at the museum at the time of purchase. Ticket sales at the door end one hour before the museum’s closing time. Check our opening hours

Only the ticket price of €19 or €17 will be charged for a ticket purchased at the museum. Holders of various yearly passes and under 18-year olds will be admitted to the Ateneum without having to pay the service and booking fees, when they buy their ticket at the museum. Different entrances for visitors with pre-booked tickets and those buying tickets at the door

Access for museum visitors with pre-booked tickets is through the entrance on Ateneuminkuja. Each admission ticket is sold with an arrival time. Arrival times are staggered at 30-minute intervals. Visitors can arrive at any time during the 30-minute period stated on their ticket. If the arrival time on your ticket is the last of the day, you should arrive promptly at the start time, which gives you one hour to explore the exhibition before the museum closes. 

Access for Ateneum visitors buying their tickets at the museum is through the main entrance on Kaivokatu.

In August, the Ateneum will be open every day from 10:00 to 21:00

During the last four weeks of the Repin exhibition, from 2 to 29 August 2021, the Ateneum will be open from Monday to Sunday from 10:00 to 21:00.

The Stories of Finnish Art collection exhibition

In addition to the exhibitions, the Ateneum museum shop and the Ateneum Bistro restaurant-café are open. Café Ateneum on the third floor is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00 (only open to ticket-holders). The museum shop and the Ateneum Bistro are accessible without visiting the exhibition, if there is enough space.
