Buy an advance ticket – you can enter the museum exactly when you want

If you want to guarantee your admission to the museum at a preferred time, we recommend buying an advance ticket. Advance ticket sales will begin on 14 March. Tickets are also sold at the door.

Where can I buy an advance ticket?

You can buy advance tickets to the Ateneum on the website and at ticket outlets from 14 March 2023 at 10:00.

In addition to the online service, tickets can be purchased from the telephone service at +358 600 900 900 (Mon–Sat, 9:00–21:00, Sun 10:00–18:00, €2/min + mobile call charge/local network charge) and at the Stockmann department store and other outlets (excluding R-kioski shops).

How much does an advance ticket cost?

The price of our normal ticket is €20, and the price of a concession ticket is €12 (18–24-year-olds, students, pensioners, unemployed, conscripts, and non-military conscripts). Admission is free for under 18-year-olds.

Depending on the chosen delivery method, a service fee of €1.50 and a booking fee of at least €1.50 are added to the price of all tickets purchased through, including tickets acquired with free-entry cards and tickets for under 18-year-olds. also accepts various yearly passes (including the Museum Card, press card, Friends of the Ateneum membership card, and teacher identity card) as means of payment. Do I have to buy an advance ticket? Can I buy a ticket at the Ateneum?

Tickets will also be sold on site at the Ateneum. However, it is possible that queues will form at the doors, especially at rush hours.

The time of entry depends on the number of visitors present at the museum at the time of purchase. Ticket sales at the door end half an hour before the museum’s closing time.

How much does a ticket purchased at the Ateneum cost?

Only the ticket price of €20 or €12 will be charged for a ticket purchased at the museum. Holders of various yearly passes and under 18-year-olds will be admitted to the Ateneum without having to pay the service and booking fees, if they buy their ticket at the museum.

Where do I show my advance ticket when I arrive at the museum?

Access for museum visitors who have bought tickets in advance is through the entrance on Ateneuminkuja.Each admission ticket is sold with an entry time. Entry times are staggered at 30-minute intervals. Visitors can arrive at any time during the 30-minute period stated on their ticket. If the entry time on your ticket is the last of the day, you should arrive promptly at the start time, which gives you 90 minutes to explore the exhibition before the museum closes.
